In 1993, Cook County Hospital’s HIV/AIDS clinic was re-named the Sable/Sherer Clinic. The clinic treated one-third of Cook Countyﾒs HIV/AIDS patients.

Dr. Ron Sable, who joined Cook County Hospital in 1976 as an intern, hasdAIDS. He and Dr. Renslow Sherer, also of the hospital staff, started the Sable/Sherer Human Retroviral Disease Clinic at the hospital in 1983.
