CDC study showed 2019-20 flu vaccine effectively prevented hospitalizations and emergency visits in children

On Jan. 27, 2021, a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study found that the 2019-2020 flu vaccine provided significant protection against flu-associated hospitalizations and emergency department visits among children.

Specifically, the vaccine was 62% effective at preventing flu-associated hospitalizations and 56% effective at preventing flu-associated emergency department visits among children included in the study.
