CDC published updated recommendations for prevention of hepatitis A virus infection
On Oct. 19, 2007, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published updated recommendations for prevention of hepatitis A virus infection after exposure and before international travel in MMWR.
The CDC recommended that all unvaccinated people aged 12 months and older who have been exposed to HAV within the past 14 days receive a single dose of the HepA vaccine as soon as possible. For people aged over 40, the CDC also recommends considering immune globulin (IG) in addition to the HepA vaccine.
