Avian Influenza A(H5N1) detected in dairy cattle in Minnesota

On Jun. 4, 2024, the Minnesota Department of Health reported that Avian Influenza A(H5N1) was detected in dairy cattle in Minnesota.  There was no reported detection in people. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended PPE for those who work with any infected or potentially infected animals. Commercial poultry producers and backyard flock owners should practice strict biosecurity to prevent their birds from exposure to wild waterfowl.
