Arthur M Stimson developed a better method for rabies vaccine preparation
In 1908, Arthur Marston Stimson developed a better method for rabies vaccine preparation so it could be sent more safely and be more widely distributed.
Rabies has been known to humankind for at least 4000 years, but the tools and concepts to control rabies were only developed at the end of the 19th Century. This included the first live, attenuated vaccine ever developed for humans and the first post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) regimen. Today, an estimated 70,000 people die from rabies exposure worldwide each year.
