AMGen (Applied Molecular Genetics) was founded
On Apr. 8, 1980, AMGen (Applied Molecular Genetics) was established in Thousand Oaks, California with George B. Rathmann as its CEO. Amgen was the brainchild of venture capitalists William K. (Bill) Bowes and associates. Amgen, pioneered the development of novel and innovative products based on advances in recombinant DNA and molecular biology.
