On Jul. 8, 2020, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center was named the coordinating center for vaccine clinical trials of the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN).

The CoVPN was funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health. A team headquartered at Fred Hutch lead operations across a network of at least five large-scale efficacy trials with over 100 clinical trial sites in the U.S. and abroad.
