On Mar. 24, 2020, City of Hope announced that it had employed its vast expertise using the immune system to fight COVID-19. City of Hope developed the Triplex vaccine against cytomegalovirus (CMV), a type of herpes virus, that – similar to the coronavirus – can cause pneumonia and other serious complications in patients with weakened immune systems.
