
Matrical Bioscience acquired by Brooks Automation for $10 million
On Jul. 23, 2013, Matrical Bioscience announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and business of Matrical for cash consideration of approximately $10 million. Matrical is a Spokane, Washington-based, privately held company established in 2001 that provides biological sample preparation, management and storage solutions to customers in Agbio, Biotech, Life Science Tools and Pharmaceutical markets. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and was expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
Jeffrey Farmer, Vice President & General Manager of Brooks Life Science Systems, stated, “We are enthusiastic about welcoming the founders and employees of Matrical to Brooks and foresee them making a significant contribution to the development of new solutions that further the growth of our Life Sciences business. In particular, we are excited about the product offerings and market position in Agbio that will significantly expand our penetration in this market segment.”
Brooks is a leading worldwide provider of automation, vacuum and instrumentation solutions for multiple markets including life sciences, front end semiconductor manufacturing and adjacent technology markets.
