On Jun. 26, 2012, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to expand the age recommendation for administration of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13). At the time, PCV13 was recommended solely for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
