On Feb. 3, 2007 the Sioux Valley Health Care System was renamed Sanford Health to recognize a $400 million gift from businessman and philanthropist T. Denny Sanford, former owner of First Premier Bank and Premier Bankcard.

Today, Sanford Health is an integrated health system headquartered in Sioux Falls and is now the largest rural, not-for-profit health care system in the nation with locations in 126 communities in eight states.
