On Apr. 24, 2003, the National Cancer Institute, CDC, AHRQ, and SAMHSA, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, launched the Cancer Control PLANET (Plan, Link, Act, Network with Evidence-based Tools), a web portal providing access to regularly updated cancer surveillance data and program resources including cancer control interventions.

PLANET was designed to also help state- and community-based planners, program staff, and researchers develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based cancer control programs.
