Scientists cloned the tumor suppressor genes BRCA1 and BRCA2
In 1995, scientists cloned the tumor suppressor genes BRCA1 and BRCA2, inherited genetic mutations that can predict an increased risk of breast cancer.
The BRCA1 and BRCA2 tumor suppressor genes repair DNA damage to prevent tumor development. Mutations in these genes predispose an individual to malignancy.
