The Priestley Medal was awarded to Carl Djerassi
On Jun. 3, 1991, the American Chemical Society announced that Carl Djerassi had been named the recipient of the 1992 Priestley Medal ‘for his numerous contributions to chemistry’.
Djerassi, who was a chemistry professor at Stanford University, retired as an active research chemist to pursue numerous other interests before the award was made.
