FDA announced new food labeling rules
On Feb. 29, 1992, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced new food labeling rules.
The purpose of FDA’s proposals was to clear up confusion that had surrounded nutrition labeling for years, to help consumers choose healthier diets, and to give food companies an incentive to improve the nutritional qualities of their products.
