In 1990, Connecticut United for Research Excellence Inc. (CURE) was founded. CURE was a statewide coalition of educational and research institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and other supporting businesses. In January 2018, CURE renamed itself BioCT.

BioCT serves as the life science cluster of Connecticut, a diverse community of small and large life and healthcare sciences companies, ranging in scope from therapeutics, to healthcare technology, to medical devices.
