UC San Diego was designated one of eight national centers for research and treatment of AIDS
In 1986, University of California San Diego Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) was designated one of eight national centers for research and treatment of AIDS.
Established by a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the CFAR has served laboratory scientists, clinicians, and the public for over two decades. The CFAR have nine service areas, or cores, that offer unique laboratory and clinical resources.
