in May 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed into law a bill that established the Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, a private, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that as serves as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners.

Five months later, the Foundation was named in honor of the late Sen. Henry M. ‘Scoop ‘Jackson, a former U.S. Congressional Representative and Senator from the state of Washington who sponsored the legislation that led to its founding.

The Henry Jackson Foundation’s (HJF) support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
