In 1983, Pat Mooney’s Law of the Seed was released, published by the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation, which is a comprehensive analysis of the international management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.

Mooney claimed that, with patents to protect them, multinational corporations are taking over both the seed & biotechnology industries in an effort to control not only germplasm, but also the world’s food supply.
