The Medical College of South Carolina School of Dental Medicine graduated its first class
On Jun. 3, 1971, the MCSC School of Dental Medicine graduated its first class. Dr. Cathy Moss was the first woman to graduate from the college in 1973 and Dr. George McTeer was the first African American graduate in 1974. By 2015 women constituted 51% of all dental students, and three percent of students were African American.
