In 1970, Senator Norris Cotton secured a $3 million federal grant to build rural New England’s first regional cancer center. That same year, the Norris Cotton Cancer Center was founded, and named for the Senator Cotton who represented New Hampshire in the U.S. Congress from 1947 to 1974.
