The NIH’s James Shannon Building dedicated by Franklin D Roosevelt was completed
In 1938, The NIH’s James Shannon Building (called Building 1) dedicated by Franklin D. Roosevelt was completed.
Building 1 has been the focal point for NIH leadership, and is located on the east side of campus at Center Drive. Today, the building is an administrative center for NIH.
