In 1902, Ronald Ross was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for his work, using pigeons, showing how malaria is transmitted.

While Ross is remembered for his malaria work, he was also a mathematician, epidemiologist, sanitarian, editor, novelist, dramatist, poet, amateur musician, composer and artist.
