Physician John Hill established the connection between tobacco and cancer
In 1761, physician John Hill confirmed the role of local irritation and inflammation in causation of cancer. In 1761, Hill published “Cautions Against the Immoderate Use of Snuff”, he wrote that tobacco snuff is able to produce swellings and polyps in the nose.
