In 1716, the Collegiate School moved to New Haven. Yale University was founded in 1701 as the Collegiate School in the home of Abraham Pierson, its first rector, in Killingworth, Connecticut.

The School of Medicine has grown to include every modern medical discipline. Its faculty includes some of the world’s most respected scholars in medicine, public health and biomedical science. Yale consistently ranks among the handful of leading recipients of research funding from the National Institutes of Health and other organizations supporting the biomedical sciences.
