On Oct. 22, 2018, the Siteman Cancer Center announced a second proton therapy system that would incorporate pencil-beam scanning, for extremely precise treatments of proton therapy for certain cancers.

Construction began in early 2019 next to the region’s only proton therapy system, at Siteman Cancer Center. The new proton therapy system at Siteman Cancer Center was scheduled to open to patients in early 2020.
